Persistent spectral hole burning in an organic material for temporal pattern recognition

چکیده

A broad-bandwidth persistent spectral hole-burning organic material is used as a fast optical processor that compares an input temporal-frequency profile with a recorded reference spectral shape. This patternrecognition procedure relies on a subpicosecond temporal cross-correlation process. The size of the phaseencoding spectral interval exceeds 1 THz. The storage material, the spectral encoder, and the interferometric detector are examined in detail for optimal pattern discrimination. Experimental temporal patternrecognition results are reported. © 1999 Optical Society of America [S0740-3224(99)02101-3] OCIS codes: 090.0090, 020.1670, 070.5010, 320.5390, 200.4740, 190.4380.

Persistent spectral hole burning by simultaneous two-photon absorption

We show for the ®rst time persistent spectral hole burning by simultaneous absorption of two 1138 nm photons in an inhomogeneously broadened S1 S0 …Qy† transition of unstable photo-tautomer of chlorin in polymer ®lm at low temperature. Spectrally selective hole burning is achieved due to high (10%) quantum eciency of photo-transformation in that system and high peak intensity (tens of GW/cm) o...

Holography in frequency-selective media. III. Spectral synthesis of arbitrary time-domain pulse shapes

We study theoretically and experimentally the synthesis of arbitrary time-domain pulse shapes, using short laser pulses scattered by holograms stored in a spectrally selective hole-burning material. In general, writing holograms in spectrally selective materials results in cross talk and interference between different frequencies because of Kramers–Kronig dispersion relations. We discuss differ...

Spectroscopy , persistent hole burning , and holographic applications of naphtophthalocyanine / haloanthracene systems

We report on the spectroscopic and hole burning properties of free-base naphtophthalocyanine with and without 1chloranthracene in polymer host. These materials exhibit a strong 0–0 absorption band in the region 800 nm matching the wavelength range of most semiconductor and Ti:Sapphire lasers. The materials studied feature two persistent hole burning photochemical mechanisms, i.e. one-photon pro...

Spectral hole burning in naphthalocyanines derivatives in the region 800 nm for holographic storage applications

Persistent spectral hole burning is studied for several free-based and metallo-naphthalocyanine derivatives in polymer hosts. These materials exhibit a strong 0}0 absorption band in the region 800 nm matching the wavelength range of most semiconductor diode lasers and Ti : Sapphire lasers. Metallo-naphthalocyanines demonstrate a nonphotochemical hole-burning mechanism that is likely related to ...
